"A CLASS WHO WORKS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER"

We have been working a lot in groups and being able to share our ideas with others helps others learn at the same time.

Maths- STATISTICS

In the last 3 weeks we have been learning about the

STATISTICS INQUIRY CYCLE

First we learnt that when we want to find out information we have to go and collect it (like what colour is most liked in Room 17).

1. COLLECTING DATA (INFORMATION)
We asked every student in the class what their favourite colour was.
Our class thought that the best way to do this was list all the students in our class so that we do not miss anyone out.

for example

Cheyanne- Blue
Timo- Yellow
Tevita- Red
...............

Next we

2. SORTED OUR DATA(INFORMATION)
we sorted our data(information) into tally a chart and learnt how to create one and how to use tally marks
Sorting our information and learning how to use tally marks

Our Tally Chart that we created.
3 columns- one for colours, one for tally marks and one for the total

Next we learnt about..

3. DISPLAYING OUR DATA
We brainstormed different ways to display our data and we all thought that a BAR GRAPH would be a great way to display our data.
Some of us did not know how to create a bar graph and so we learnt how to create one.

We learnt about the

Y Line (Axis) & the X Line (Axis)

The Y Line/Axis has numbers and it goes UP and DOWN
The X Line/Axis goes across and this has the information labels on it.

Using information from our Tally Chart we created a BAR GRAPGH

One of our students Bar Graph.

We enjoyed creating a bar graph, so Whaea Marie gave us a tally chart and we had to create a bar graph using the information on the tally chart.

The Tally chart ( about yummy fruits)
Bar Graph created using the tally chart aboove.

STAY TUNE AS NEXT WE WELL LEARN TO ANALYZE OF DATA

Te Reo Maori

Today we learnt the Maori Alphabet and focused on pronounciation.
We are still trying to get the words right as the beat is a little bit fast but I think ROOM 17 DID AWESOME! Don't you?
(some students are camera shy)

Well done ROOM 17 we will be learning this next week as well (so practice at home).

"Totara Park- Family Fun"

Friday 12th Feb

Our whole school went to Totara Park to enjoy a FUN day with our family and friends. We enjoyed riding the bus, playing on the play ground and playing in the swimming pool.

We met some of our parents and they helped supervise us as well. It was a VERY HOT day but luckily we had our HATS and we put sun screen on.

Some of our class waiting patiently for the bus to pick us up from school

Getting ready to jump in the pool because we were HOT and needed to cool off!

Our bus ride back to school ( some of us were tired).
